More Than an Athlete: Kendrick Foster’s Next Play

For Kendrick Foster, football has always represented more than competition. It has been a platform for discipline, personal growth and creating opportunities for others.

A native of Peoria, Illinois, Foster established himself as one of the state's most productive high-school running backs before continuing his career at the University of Illinois. Wearing No. 22 for the Fighting Illini, he developed a reputation for his speed, versatility and determination.

During his breakout 2016 season, Foster led Illinois with 720 rushing yards, seven rushing touchdowns, nine total touchdowns and 1,328 all-purpose yards. His performance earned him national recognition, including placement on the Doak Walker Award watch list. He later served as a team captain and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors—showing that his leadership extended beyond what happened on the field.

Purpose Beyond the Game

When Foster's playing career ended, his connection to football did not.

He returned to the sport from a different position: coach, mentor and developer of young athletes. Through High Profile Athletes, Foster now uses the knowledge gained throughout his journey—from Peoria to the Big Ten and professional opportunities—to help young players develop their skills, confidence and understanding of the game.

His mission is bigger than producing better football players. It is about giving young athletes access, preparation and a clearer path toward opportunities that may once have seemed out of reach.

That understanding has made him a respected presence among players, families and the growing football community throughout Central Illinois.
